black 1937 buffalo nickel
I found this awesome black colored buffalo nickel, that looks odd. Ive read about something about the jefferson nickels, but was long ago, and ran across this old one in my collection. And it got me thinking , maybe this nickel is like those ones, or something else? It weighs 4.88 grams, which seems light to me, could the nickel coating be not there? I am interested to knowYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

Hummmm that nickel looks a little pitted. It might have been in the ground, which may have reduced the coin weight a little. As for it looking pretty decent, I don't know if it was sonically cleaned or chemically cleaned. Chemicals may have removed all the crud, but the patina would have gone too. Slight chance a ground coin with environmental damage might have some patina left. It depends how long the environment affected the coin.Gary Kozera
