I have a 1917 1 cent wheat penny only 0,79 mm thick
This 1917 wheat penny weighs 1.3 g Dia. is 17.96 mm and thickness is 0.79 mm. The obverse is blurry, the reverse is a bit more clear. Could this be a split planchet? IMG_20240302_180747.jpg IMG_20240302_180632.jpg IMG_20240302_180827.jpgTags: None

In my opinion, it looks heavily pitted.
It could have easily been in the ground for a good length of time.
It could also have been exposed to an acid based chemical. The acidity simply eats away all the features where the acids reside. This usually leaves the coin looking mushy and ghost-like.
Either issue mentioned above can significantly reduce the weight of a coin like a cent.
