  • 2016 teddy roosevelt quarter, weak strike or some sort of striking error?

I found a few of these going thru mint rolls. some of the coins exhibit this strange strike phenomenon on the outer devices. The inner devices are sharper the closer you get to the center of the coin but the outer devices seem like they are smeared on, rather than struck on. would this be considered a deteriorated die or a broad strike maybe?

tbh, it looks like die deterioration. you can see the "strain" lines in the legend indicating a lot of strain on the die from being kinda weak and/or long use.

i can't say more from the images, so perhaps there is another explanation.

Thank you, I agree, I believe its die deterioration as well based on the "strain" lines I see as well.
