1941/1041 Lincoln Wheat Cent Error

In my opinion, post mint damage. The mint did not make this type of error in in the 1940s. The working die that made this coin came from the working hub that made all the working dies for the 1941 year.
It could have been someone messing around with some jewelers tools. The area around the date appears to be relatively brighter than the overall coin. To me, that means this was done way after it left the mint. The patina or color where IN GOD WE TRUST is a good indicator what the letters should look like on the coin. Sure, some of this may be surface wear, but the issue is that this is more than likely PMD.Gary Kozera

I listed it on eBay got 2 bids so far. Well it sold with 3 bids at $14.51 plus tax. Just goes to show even possible post damaged coins if they are intriguing might have value.Last edited by SomersetSmile; 06-12-2024, 11:30 AM.
