CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • What Type of Error???

I have a 1960 D cent that has a glob between the letters B & E in "Liberty" and a 1982 D cent double mark. Again, Thanks for any help on clarifying these. I have a couple of books but I just am not sure at this point what would be a good error coin so I set aside any that just look odd to me. Thanks again!

The 60 D is a die break also known as a BIE error, because it resembles an extra I. Need a closer pic of the 82D, but I'm new to the error/variety scene so somebody else might be able to answer that one.

The 1960-D cent has a die chip. The 1982-D cent shows a blister pushed up by subsurface corrosion. A microscopic perforation in the copper plating allowed the underlying zinc to react with corrosive chemicals it encountered. This is a common site for such problems.
