Acquiring pre-sorted / rolled mint coins?

My understanding is that the reserves receive the large bags of minted coins from the mints and then rolling companies order these bags, sort them, roll them, and box them as they in turn receive orders from their customers.

    1. Is my understanding accurate?
    2. Has anyone had any success at acquiring these coins before the rolling companies sort out the really obvious errors?
    3. Can banks order un-rolled coins directly from the reserve in smaller bags?
    4. What do rolling companies do w/ the sorted out errors?

i see that no one has posted a response - here is my opinion - my father told me who drove a tractor trailer a few years ago

he picked up a trailer once just sitting in yard with alot of other trailers and didn't know what was in it or where it was going

it turned out to be going to a armor truck service company and just breifly looked inside and the coins were all huge bags on pallets and had to be moved with a forklift

as to your answer - i dont think that coins go directly to the reserve - to much weight to move around they are just the middle man scenario

i never heard of banks getting bags of new coins-just boxed and rolled-there is not a demand for collectors to look thru - just settle for rolled ones - i got 3 boxes of coins this week and the teller had to wheel a chair in the vault area because the weight is to much for the girls to move - i think your main question is that can you get coins directly from mint without a armor truck service in the middle - i think the answer is no - i know that you can buy coins directly from the mint but i heard that the same type of company still rolls them for the mint

i read that early this year(Jan-Feb) that a armor truck co found alot of errors for the Monroe dollars and returned them back to the mint - i guess it was a real obvious error - i forgot what type of error it was - so none were found after this news was out
