I hope I'm positing this in the right spot. I'm I'm not please excuse me I'm new here.
I hope this isn't another "Here we go again, another guy who thinks he has a no FG half dollar error"
I have done some research since I found this but have found little information on it or examples of this have been somewhat more damaged and questionable in the past. There was a forum post here in search function that resulted in a request for advice in 2009 about this coin's possible undocumented of an acclaimed error.
I have seen a few examples on eBay, and other auction places of versions of this coin but they too seem to be a little less clear than this example I would like to show you.
My question is this:
Is it possible that like the 1972-D and the 1982-P that the 1977-D does also have a no FG error?
I have included a few pictures of this coin. While pictures may not do it justice as there always seems to be lighting issues, I have followed the guidelines for taking coin pictures as best as possible. As I am still learning I would like to know if anyone thinks this might need to be looked at by an expert so it can possibly move forward to attribution. This weight of this coin is 11.29g sometimes my scale also says 11.30.
I tried to take a couple different angles of the coin as lighting does play some effect here on the close up of the location with no FG.
I found this post on CoinhelpU
1977 D no FG Kennedy Half - COIN Help U Community (coinauctionshelp.com)
However, I can't find the "Wisp of the FG" that Earle highlighted in that post or in his PDF talking about how common this seems to be.
I greatly appreciate your time to look at this.
