CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Another day, another (Morgan) dollar. 1898 Mechanical doubling

Got this one in a trade and didn't think much of it....When I got home with my loupe I noticed the strong shelf on STATES. To my eye there even appears to be doubling in the O (OF) and on iN gO, We, in the motto, and the eagles Left wing!

I wanted to show it to you all and see if you agree with my evaluation. Always fun to find this stuff in the wild.

    What do you think?

I agree, some form of worthless doubling. It doesn't add any value to the coin, but a decent educational piece.

Thanks for the confirmation yall. Fun to find it in the wild - As you say Gary, a good educational piece.

        Not "worthless," just worth less

        Thanks for taking a look!
