1946S Lincoln Cent Variety? Error? Or What?

I ran across this very nice 1946S Lincoln cent with something going on with the date. What is this? Error? Variety? or What? Polished out?

I have seen my fair share of either weakly struck dates along with the mintmark or the was just a severely worn die. With all of them I have seen, I cannot believe they all came from just one set of working dies.

Hopefully you will be able to upload photos soon. If the problem persists, you can send a private message to Jamez and he will be able to take care of the issue.

Hello Gary, So have I...I have never seen one where the '1 9' is bold and the '4 6' is barely ledgable. Sorry I can't add pics. Great new feature! Cheers Bruce.

Bruce, if I had to count how many 1946S Lincoln cents I have personally have seen that way, I would say thousands at least probably a lot more. I have seen a lot more in that condition over a normal coin, probably at a ratio of 50+ or more bad, to one good.
