CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Thick dime

I found a dime that is very thick . It looks to be doubled. Or layered . I am not sure . I hope these pics are clear enough to see the edge . It is smooth . No ridges . Strange .

What is the weight of the coin ?

In my opinion, several things come to mind.

One is some one tried to make a ring out of the coin and failed.

Second is a dryer coin. A coin gets trapped in a commercial dryer and is heated up and constantly hits metal on metal. It tumbles in the drum, typically on the rim. This flattens the reeding on the thin side of the coin. It also may leave some muddy looking appearance real close to the rim on both sides of the coin. This also may show really high rims on the obverse and reverse. The coin itself may appear a bit smaller than a standard dime, diameter wise.
