CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1946-D 'Crater Date' .. Pre or Post mint release?

The way the m/m (and to a lesser extant the date) is punched makes me think it was pre-release... but I simply do not have enough knowledge in the area to know for sure...

Also, a matter of etiquette... I seem to making my posts in groups from when I've had time to "hunt" over the weekends. Should I group these posts? Keep them date/type categorized? Stop wasting peoples time?

Really... I don't mind being told there isn't any value to the audience, what may seem neat to me could be a complete waste of time for everyone else.

It's either a strike-through error or a lamination error. Hard to say which without looking at it under microscope.
