CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1944s LC no S?

Hi Guys. What do you make of this LC mint mark wiped? I'm assuming it was wiped by the mint. Thank you PICA0067.jpg PICA0065.jpg PICA0066.jpg

In my opinion, its a damaged cent.
It may look like a mintmark may have been there, but that should not be the case.
    Its a case of Pareidolia.

The US Mint in the last 80+ years is not going to remove a mint mark and use the working die.
They have hundreds of working dies at the ready for the year. It takes a few minutes for them to replace a working die.

With that cent being heavily worn, its tough to know what could have happened outside the mint. The damage could be just about anything.
