CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1990 lincoln / whats the cause?

    1990 lincoln / whats the cause?

    I found this this morning going through unc rolls, very little of the motto, showing, L missing from liberty, and 1 and 0 of date also missing, obverse show ne to sw marks accross coin more like a big skid mark than filing, reverse also shows skid mark at base of memorial. What would be the cause of this??

    Hi Hamilton - It looks like this coin was struck thru grease, not only on the obverse but the reverse as well.

      A grease strike thru would leave the apperance of streaks or filing marks?? I guess I can't picture anything else that could have this affect on just the raised portions of the coin. Thanks for your time
