CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Everytime I think I'm actually learning to identify some different types of errors I run into something that anyone else can recognize and I well,, need help. I have two lincoln cents that appear to me as lamination errors or just gouged prestrike I think..? will someone look at the 2 pics (1 each) and tell me if I'm close or are or should I just give it up? I also have this 1982-S Jefferson Its a beautiful deep cam or mirred like but under the scope I dont what it is, Help please...

    The 1917 looks like after mint damage due to the build up of metal above the field surface. The 1915-D has the appearance of a struck through a foreign object, however, it would have to be analyzed in hand to be sure.

    What you maybe seeing on the nickel is planchet grain from the rollers that reduced the stock to the nickel thickness.
