Unique error, should I get graded & slabbed?

In my opinion, if some one is considering sending it in to be graded and slabbed, they should research how much this is going to cost. Its dependent on the third party grading service (TPG) as to the price.- Consider the cost to
- Membership fee (Anacs no membership fee)
- Any order fee ( Ngc 10.00)
- Get it to the TPG (USPS cheapest?)
- slabbing fee (dependent on coin date, type, number of coins and desired turn-around time).
- Variety or error research fee
- Return postage and insurance (higher declared value, higher return postage fee) (typically 25-30 bucks)
To save yourself a lot of money sending in a coin that might be something, I suggest allowing the CONECA SERVICES under examinations to look at this. It may cost a very low fee for a staff member to look it over and give their assessment.
Collars should not affect the surface of the coin where the working dies strike the coin. Collars hold the coin in place during the strike. If it was not held properly in collar, it depends on the angle, but the pressure behind the working dies might staighten it out or flatten the coin. Improper/ partial collar might have one side of the coin with a weaker strike.
My gut feeling is that since the majority of this effect is only on one side, itvcould bepost mint damage, done zfter it left the mint.
