1989 Penny DDR
I have this 1989 penny that looks to have doubled die on reverse. I am still trying to figure the difference between Doubled die and Machine doubling. Am I seeing DDR on this penny? ThanksYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

In my opinion, I believe it is not a doubled die. If it was, it might be too minor. There is no additional thickness, or split serifs nor any tpe of cookie cutter line where one impression was placed on top of another. For doubled dies each impression is typicall at the same height. Machine damage usually shows step like, making the letters look clipped or damaged.
Its best to use the documented websites that tailor to doubled dies. Those working dies that had doubling on the working dies (prior to 1996) were sunk into metal. Typically - if a coin is not listed as described on the documented websites, its something other than a doubled die.
The websites should show areas where doubling should be apparent. Its important to read the description as this typically lists the areas with doubling.
