1969 S Proof Lincoln Cent
I know this is not the famous 1969 S doubled die. But I see a doubled die on “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “LIBERTY,” and on the “1969” date. I can see an RPM, along with thickness on “E. PLURIBUS – UNUM.” Could this be mechanical doubling? I checked Variety Vista's website and could not find one that matches this coin.

In my opinion, if it doesnt match a known documented example, its more than likely something else. Especially after decades of time have passed.
As for proofs, many are struck twice or more to give the coin the best lookas the U S Mint can provide.
It is very possible each strike could be just a touch off, and they are scrutinized by attributors more than a business strike (normal) coins.
