1989 D Nickel Die Clash?
This nickel I've had for a while might be a die clash. I can see lettering underneath the word Trust. Also, I'm assuming that the year is 1989, although the last number is unidentified.

In my opinion, this looks like PMD as well. There looks like some foriegn substance near the date along with more of it on Jefferson on the southern area of this coin. Its difficult to know what that stuff is.
With PMD evident on a coin, it would be very difficult to prove any mint error was mixed in with all of this. For example, the area near TRUST looks like it is sunk into the coin. It could very well be a substance that ate away some of the material or, its simply stuck on the coin itself.
It does not look like any clash I have ever seen. I am choosing to rule out a strike through since the area around the date looks more PMD than an error.
Clashes should look like an outline of the other side of the coin. There are plenty of overlays out there to use as a reference.
