1987 Lincoln Cent Error?

Hi! all! found this in my change, it's the first I have ever found. Is it an error or damaged. What do you think Diamond? These are the best pictures I could take after about 60 tries. Thanks, Charlie

It's a genuine die error. The coin shows a form of die deterioration that is most frequently found in association with zinc cents. This is an unsually severe example.
