    Crazy Coin

Came across this 1955D Lincoln Wheat cent and wanted to know if this is a mint error coin.
There is a clip that looks like reeding, die crack across face; starts lower jaw to 1 o’clock position that I couldn’t get to show well and doubles everywhere and the wavey pattern.
    thanks

In my opinion, I strongly believe this coin was exposed to some sort of acid. Acid typically leaves those wavy style lines and significantly reduces the weight of the coin. Anything with an acidic base works, even a tomato based product like ketchup.

More than likely its a condition called post mint damage (PMD), something that happened to the coin after it left the US Mint, probably done i someones house or garage. The acid typically ruins any value the coin might have had.

    Happy hunting.
