CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    would this be considered a cud (extra metal) Kennedy half?

    To be a "cud", it must be part (or broken off the die) of the rim. Any other die chip or anomaly with part of the die missing (which will form die chips, break, etc.) are not called cuds.

    As for your coin; that is an unusual place for a die break, if that is what it is. From the pictures I am not to sure what type of anomaly you are dealing with.

      If the blemish is raised, then it's most likely die damage, specifically a die dent.
