CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

  • 1972 Quarter which I need enlightenment on

    Greetings all.
Being fairly new to looking for error or varieties, I am really not sure what I am looking at or seeing 90% of the time. This quarter has me seeing crosseyed trying to make sure it not an optical illussion. Any help or opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.
What I am seeing looks like the tip of one of the arrows coming out from behind one of the leaves, not sure if this is just a well place scratch or gouge or what.
In one photo I have circled the leave in red and labled it 1. In the other photo I have circled what appears to be an arrow tip and labled it 2.

    Thank you very much

To be honest with you, it doe not appear to be part of the design. While it does appear to be a tip of an arrow, it does not seem to be a continuation of any of those arrows. It is not a doubled die, so that leaves it either being a well place die gouge or die chip.
