CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Kennedy Half Error?

I have attached some images of a Kennedy Half error that I recently purchased. Although I hv been collecting errors for many years, I would like to have some input on tis coin as to whether it may be a counterfeit. The coin weighs 192.1 grains, which is well within tolerance of a 90% half. Therefore, it is a 1964 even though only the 19 shows. It also has a mirrored brockage reverse. It has nice smooth surfaces and a sharp strike although it has been slightly cleaned at onetime. Can anyone shed sme light on tis coin's authenticity. It looks good to me but I know there are some pretty deceptive errors out there. Thanks!
