CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1942 Inverted S Dimes

I have located another 1942-S Inverted S Dime (my third one). Here is an image of three inverted S Mint Marks and a normal S for comparison. The coin on the upper right is a late stage and there is a bunch of die polishing lines. Note how the top of the S is smooth and flat inside and on the opposite is true for the normal S. Also note the notch on the inside base on the inverted S and the smooth or notch-less area on the base of the normal S. Another thing to note is the longer top of the S on the Inverted S and the normal S having a shorter top. All three of these inverted S coins have the mint mark in the very same location which matches the coin shown on the CONECA page.
