  • A statehood Delaware quarter error collar or planchet

Here is a statehood quarter that has been a mystery to me for a long time.
I don't know if it's a Planchet error or a collar erro. The coin exsibits near the rim seems like lamination and it's the whole circumferance of the coin

I have never seen anything like this in my many years of collecting error coins.
I don't believe it is postmint damage. ,don't think it was from a bubble gum machine or any other device delibrately done.

I would like to know what kind of an error this is, or if it is an error at all
Thank you so much for looking

Your photo is too grainy to make a diagnosis.

It could be an unusual form of die deterioration. But I am not at all confident of that. If you'd like, you can send it to me for an examination. Just contact me offline at mdia1@aol.com. -- Mike Diamond

Mike here's my last pic i just want to indicate some of the areas with blue arrows.

Near the O you could see that it wasn't taking out the crater is beneath it and most of the circumferance of the coin away from the rim there is a deep crater I know it's not post mint damage or was done by a machine of some sought .

I will send it in when i get the chance.

It still looks like a worn die. IMHO
