CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2009-S Proof Vigin Islands Quarter Massive MDD

i have not 1 but 2 of these massive MDD 2009-S Proof Virgin Islands Quarter....under 20x loupe..looks like 4x.....there is a bit of notching on the U in QUARTER, but, that's it for notching...my heart stopped when I first saw the coin....only to have MDD depression set in...the so-called "doubling" is so strong, the secondary letter reaches almost halfway to the next letter!

There is one other possibility. Proof coins are double struck and there may have been some slight rotation between the first and second strike. I would think that with the doubling being that strong, it would be worth while to have Mike Diamond take a look at the coin, if he will.
