1864 BZ Indian Head Cent No L With Die Clashes
Hi gang--I'm new to IHC's.....curious if Die Clashes are important in the series? This specimen has an "axe" shaped raised clash at the eyelid up to the lower headband(the shiny line in front of the eye itself is a hitmark--they look tied together, but they are not)...looks like he's about to get hit with an axe!!!....using my tongs, the clash reverts to revers of the ribbon area...clash looks to match the area there...strong clashing on both sides, just hard to shoot, as you know. Heavy clashing under STATES, and into headband, reverse shows incuse clash under bow, and under C in CENT.......I suppose oak wreath issues.....secondary digits of the 6 and 4 are evident to the south of the primary digits, as shown in cherrypickers guide....

Clash
Funny...the Morgan-Peace VAM collectors would go Bigtime NUTS over something like this hatchethead clash..they get flustered over a 1/132" die scratch for cryin outloud.......IHC collectors must be a subdued crowd....if anyone knows where to find a computer overlay obverse/reverse for IHC clashes, I'd love to bookmark it.
I discovered the IKE reverse "Eye Clash" in 2007..it's boring, but, it still was fun to figure it out, and, it's a name recognition clash now in the IKE world.
