CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Would this be unusual 50c 64PR AH Strike Thru

This is from a 64PR Kennedy Half Dollar, Accented Hair...would this be unusual? It looks like a strike through wire, but from the hubbing process, not the striking process. What would this condition be called? Assuming this is on the die, there should be others like it...but I have looked at a ton of Accented Hair’s and have not seen this before. Is this common with other denominations of proofs?

    Thank You,
    Larry Nienaber

Here's my guess I think the die was damaged by a strike thru.

I can't tell from here if the short line is raised, incuse, flushed with the field, or lying loosely on top of the field. Without such details, I cannot determine the nature of this microscopic blemish.
