    Three cent error?

This three cent piece was found in an old coin collection. Is this a mint error, and if so, what type? Fairly common or rare? Thanks! Jack.

Are you referring to the rod-like ridge to the right of the middle roman numeral? If so, I'm not sure what this is. It doesn't correspond to any error I'm familiar with.

Yes, the Roman numerals aren't lined up perpendicular to the coin, and there appears to me to be some doubling--I'm a real novice at these errors, though--just lookng for expert help! Jack.
