It looks like it was gold plated/silver plated at one time.
The coin weighs 11.61 grams, approx .27 grams over the normal weight for a 1971 JFK of 11.34 Grams.
I have a gold plated 2005 JFK and it weights 11.37 grams, just a little over the normal weight of 11.34G
I know that the US Mint made a few 1974D and 1977D IKE's by mistake in 40% Silver Clad.
Does anyone know if the Mint made the same kind of error on any 1971P JFK's
making them in 40% Silver Clad?
Is it feasable that this coin weighs .27 grams more by being plated?
Thanks for any help/input on this!
