CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    2009-S Proof 25c Puerto Rico DDO?

    This 25 cent Proof 2009 Puerto Rico has massive MDD...naked eye visable, plus, a "ghost" lettering to left of all letters, barely perceptible on metal, but, there, creating, when tilted right, a bizarre Triple Die look, but, my main interest is the Notching in the lower U in QUARTER tail....OK...This is most likely too minor to list, I do not know...cherrypickers look at your 2009 Proof set 25C pieces for perhaps a more advanced notching of this situation.

    Yes, that is a notch. And you are right, I would think it would be to minor to list in files if it is a doubled die. As for the machine doubling, remember that these proof coins are struck twice. Even with the die in place on the coin for the second strike, mishaps can happen.
