CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

What exactly is this error cent?

I have been told everything from post mint damage to it being caused by a yeti with flat feet.....exactly what is this error? Thanks...

I can make out the date as: 200?

Your cent was struck through cooked, hardened lubricant or a mixture of lubricant, dust, and dirt. In the hobby, it's called a "grease strike" or "struck through grease" error. As errors go, they're rather common. But it is a real error and it has modest value ($5 or so). -- Mike Diamond

whats the difference between the 2 coins?

just wondering what the difference is between my coin (in first post) and this coin?

the one pictured here has been identified as a capped die strike.

        Thanks for looking.

Your second cent was struck through either a late-stage conventional die cap or a mid-stage uniface die cap. I suspect the latter since the ghost of Lincoln is quite feeble. In either case, it's a generic capped die strike. Note that the entire surface of the latter cent is evenly obscured, while the coverage in your first cent is incomplete and quite uneven in the affected areas. Also, grease strikes don't leave a raised ghost of Lincoln; they merely obscure parts of Lincoln.
