CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Is this a REAL 1992D Lincoln Cent RPM????

    Hi ALL!,

Unsure, since this is post-'90 coin when mints were incorporated to the design. Obverse and Reverse are normal.

Have counted at least 5 images of D's, if they really are???

    Thanks!

Plate rupturing (splitting) is common during this time, especially with coins made from dies that are in the early part of their life. Since the mint mark was placed on the master die, all the mint marks are the same and in the same position throughout the run in that year. Only die deterioration will make the appearance of the actual mint mark change slightly.

      Many thanks BJ!

I have attached a follow up photo that I see to be clear images of D's in at least 3 varying locations (not a characteristic of deteriorated doublings).
Can you see what I'm seeing?

      Thanks again!

Additional query.... All the design elements of both the Overse and Reverse are normal, and none show any degradation nor doublings that can be attributed to die deterioration. Isolated die deterioration (only) on the mint arae is possible, but would seem improbable, given the above conditions.
