  • Weak strike or post mint damage/alteration?

Pulled this 80's Kennedy half while going through a bag. I believe it is a weak strike but have not personally seen many.

Details are left in the center but are very week, i.e. hair on kennedy, feathers on the eagle. The weakness seems uniform and I didn't note any lines or whorls as if it had been altered.

    Any opinions are appreciated.

This coin was altered outside the Mint. A genuine weak strike would have an entirely different appearance. Also, the proto-rim of the original planchet would be present. Yours lacks any trace of a proto-rim.
