CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

This looks like it is from die polishing. Is the other place below the ear in your second photo the same thing ? If so then it is die polishing . The state quarters are easy to find with the die polishing so heavy that all of the ponytail is unattched from the rest of the hair. I keep the extreme ones but they will probably never be worth anything extra.

Do you even know what the word numismatists really means ? You wanted to know about your quarter so I told you. In your coins case no matter what caused this tiny place it would not increase the value of it by very much. The doubled ear state quarter coins can still be bought if someone wanted one for just a few dollars.

I should have known better than try to help you . You must have me confused with someone else because I was not bothering you, I have only been on this forum for a short time and I just made a honest mistake on that one post of your's because of your bad photo and said I was sorry. I will not reply to your post from now on and it is not because you said to leave you alone.

I would look at it for the possiblity of a die clash mark.

              Definition of NUMISMATICS
: the study or collection of coins, tokens, and paper money and sometimes related objects (as medals)
Most fools think they are only ignorant.

Coin-crazy, try not to take comments so personally or don't post questions on the forum. Yes there are individuals on the forum with more experience (dare I say numismatists?) and other who are not - all must be welcome to comment reasonably - there is no point to posting an opinion if someone is going to come in crashing bad mouthing the person.

Seriously, why would anyone want to comment on your threads coin-crazy if you're going to go off on them if they do? If you find the comment to be inappropriate (which I believe it is not), report it. Otherwise just wait for another response. Arguing on a virtual forum goes nowhere.

From what I see it is either a light clash mark or a random die dent. Doesn't seem to be file marks or a gouge, but they shouldn't be ruled out from the pics provided. I do not have an overlay for this particular quarter, but it is so minor that it could be from a number of different places.

JC,I can understand one's opinion but I dont like alot of negativity and I felt his comments was uncalled for.I am a stand up guy and always will be just that.If guys come at me with reason , I come back reasonable.Alot of times I dont post on here because I think alot of guys comments are wack.Alot of times I send coins out to be attributed and if dont agree with with there attributes.I resend it out up to 3 times until I feel content with their findings!!Most good discoveries go uncheck because too many people are giving false information.I refuse to be one of them..
