I am at a loss as to what the rim error is on this Proof Washington Quarter. Attempting to post images which show the "scratched" incused rim on the reverse. Some type of planchet error? You'll notice the scratched rim goes all the way around the coin and into the field in a few places. The scratches go under the LL of DOLLAR and under other lettering as well. What might have caused this? Here are the images.

First post - Washington Rim error?
My first post on this site, long time Coneca member, but slow to getting to this forum.

I have seen similar scratches on Lincoln cents. May be the die was not polished out that far after it was hubbed. We must remember that the working dies are slightly convex in shape, so this feature may have something to do with the presences of those scratches.
