  • 1980-P Washington Quarter Reverse Toning or?

Before I put this 1980-P Quarter in the bone pile, I wanted to ask about the coloring of the reverse...my fist hunch was a possible missing clad layer, yet, I believe those show more of a copper tone...probably end of roll toning?
Light acetone wipe did not clean any substances off, stayed exactly the same dark color.
    Thanks
    Cal G.

I've seen this type of discoloration on many clad coins. I don't know what it's from, but it evidently develops outside the Mint, since the coins lack original mint luster.
