CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. • braid and throat 1940 nickel

Is this considered die coin. Can a coin wear in these two areas more so than other areas? There is no throat image and parts of the braid is missing.

Again, there's no such thing as a "die coin". Your coin shows the effects of overzealous, intentional die abrasion. It's very common.
