CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Looking for name of this Error on 76-D Eisenhower Dollars

    I have 3---1976-D-T-I IKES, all with very rough reeding..these coins have portions where the metal pulled away, leaving tears and flaps of metal on the inner portion of the upper device, near rim...the copper color sticks out, where the metal peeled away..1 coin looks as though it has a 2nd rim, when viewed reverse/flat, with the reeding sticking OVER the edges.1 of the coins has the "Off-At-The-Knees" Pegleg, which makes for an interesting combo....I found a 25c like this a few years back(one of those interesting coins with a very minor, if at all premium)..I'm looking for the technical term for this particular error, so I can name it on the flips, and, use it on the new IKE Forum

      It's really hard to say what is wrong with coins by just looking at photos, but it looks to like at least one of your coins has some coin fragments stuck to it or maybe just laying there. this may have happened when the coins were still in the large bags before they were put into rolls. the large size coins can really do some damage to other coins in a coin bag. this also may account for the reeded edges being so rough looking.
