CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1971-S Proof with Partial Collar?

My friend Rob Ezerman, who is the main writer for the New IKE Book out from Lulu press, "Collectible IKE Varieties Facts, Photo's and Theories", wrote me about this coin, and said he had NEVER seen a proof 71 IKE with a Partial collar strike..while seen on Business Strike 71's(I have 3 full "Railroad Rim" 71-D's), this proof coin seems to show what looks like a railroad rim..although the double rim is weak at 1-2 O'Clock, it is still viewable...
This coin also features a severely over-polished funny-foot serif of R in LIBERTY, which Rob states is THE most over-polished serif he has seen and, the coin is some sort of DDO/DDR combo,( whether MDD or not, yet to be determined.)..the rim on this is weak(coin on left..middle is a 71-S fading Peg leg, right is a 71-S BS Silver).
    Opinions welcome
