  • Interesting 2011-W American Eagle

    I have 2 of these 2011-W American Eagles, just in from the US Mint..both have this same arcing indentation obverse..not sure what's going on...could be a clash, but, nothing really matches up, or, damage reverse to prove that..like many clashes, it is only viewable when tilted...not straight-on....there are numerous raised light die scratches obverse and reverse, running in many different directions..could be light clash lines, too light to shoot...main feature is the "Double Rainbow" effect obverse.....opinions welcome.
    Thanks
    Calvin

      2011 Silver Eagle.

      I also have 2 anomalies on 2 just acquired 2011 Silver Eagles. Should I create a separate thread or just post the photos here?

        With the Sun to the left of Lady Liberty and the "moon like" halo on the right I would say this is a "lunar eclipse" error.

        My attempt at humor.

        I'll go back to my corner now.

          no... it goes something like this;
          "When the moon is in the 7th house
          And jupiter aliens with Mars
          Then piece will guide the planets
          and love will steer the stars."

          Now stop that....... this is serious business.

            This looks to me like it was struck from a warped or buckled die . the die may have been left in use too long. I don't think this is major enough to hurt your coins any,they still look beautiful. Troy
