1964 Nickel struck thru own lamination?
It appears this 1964 Nickel was struck through its own lamination fragment. It looks like the lamination fragment came from the obverse side of the planchet, and fell between the reverse die and subject planchet when struck. Anyone else have any input? Thanks,James Zimmerman

I'm about 100% sure that what you are saying is true . If it is a coin that is struck thru it's own lamination fragment the fragment must have come loose from the planchet soon as it entered the coining chamber and got struck into the other side. I was thinking it may also be struck thru a loose die chip that came loose from the die but I don't see a cud. These two areas looks about identical so I believe what you said is true. Im my opinion you have found another great coin. TroyOriginally posted by Zimmy View PostIt appears this 1964 Nickel was struck through its own lamination fragment.
