At any rate, for your coin I don't know that I called that partially sintered as much as artificially toned or possibly messed with.

Thank you again for a response. I'm saying partially sintered planchet because, just about all pics I can find are sintered planchet and are all solid darker in color. I assure you this came from a roll of circulated quarters and the black edge made me take a closer look. I almost cut my finger on the edge, it is AU condition. I have no idea how this happened or can think of any way to duplicate this. Thanks for looking.Comment
