CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1993-D quarter error?

    Is this quarter missing clad or PMD?

    There is a possibility that this a partial clad planchet that has been struck with quarter dies.

      It's not a missing clad error. The blotchy coverage on the obverse, the soft margins of the copper-colored areas, and the fact that copper-colored areas appear on both faces indicate that the coin is simply stained.

              Beats me. But the coin is clearly not a mint error, and the discoloration was almost certainly acquired after the coin left the Mint.

                Thanks Mike for your analysis. Seems that we just had a rather lengthy discussion on stains with a Roosevelt dime on one of the other posts.
