It may have gone through a dryer also. Looks similar to the attached cent photos.Comment

The quarter has sever die deterioration and has not been affected by any other type of machinery. Notice that the letters are still somewhat sharp in appearance. If this were a "dryer" coin, those design elements would be the first to flatten out.
