  • 1948 Franklin missing forehead ?

Please examine these two pictures, I recently bought an UNC 1948 Franklin from a "Silver Junk Lot" sale and found the coin had this error. The seller asked to buy it back, but I declined.

ANY IDEAs ? I really am in the dark here, I was told its "probably" mint error and I should send it in to NGC for evaluation.

Thank you in advance for any advice or information you can offer me!

The hairline seems unusually well-defined. I'm not sure why.

Thank you for your comment. Someone suggested I email NGC, I will do that. Thanks again for your comment!

If you look at Franklin half dollars in general you'll see the hair line, I can't explain what this coin is to any certain degree.

If I can afford it, I'll send it in to NGC for evaluation. I could hardly afford just the Uncirculated coin let alone grading it too... (where is my lottery ticket
