CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1964 Roosevelt Error?

    Hello and thanks for letting me join the forum.

    I have been looking around for similar errors that I found on a 1964 Roosevelt reverse and have come up empty. I found it when going through some 64 rolls that have been passed down to me. The areas on the reverse are raised and since its silver - correct me if I'm wrong - it wouldn't be a lamination issue. Can someone lend me there thoughts on this? Thanks!

    Looks like gas bubbles, some intact and some ruptured.

      Thanks! Never even knew gas bubbles were a possibility. What does this do to the overall value? Is it regarded as a legit error?

        I come across them every once in awhile, mostly on silver coins. While they do constitute a planchet error, there is very little value attached to them.
