CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

That's pretty neat. Always good to see coins posted from our friends to the north. Do you know what caused that?

Thanks, Jamez! I'm not sure of the cause. I know that they are varieties in earlier years, however; I'm told to find one on this late a date is rare. I had always thought it was a die clash.

These extra spines can be found in various years, from the early 1960s to 1990s... The most famous one, the 1964 Extra Spine, is from a die crack... this one however, is definitely not a die crack or die clash... not sure what to make of this...

              Hey Steve,

Can I have your permission to use your photos that are presented here?? This would make an interesting topic in my RCNA column "Canadian Spice"...

If you want my email, I am sure that Jim can pass it along to you.

              Roger

Roger, of course you can use the images! I wouldn't mind some credit as the finder though

That coin has since been sold at auction. So, I no longer have the coin but I still have the close-up images. However, they may be the same resolution as the ones here.

                Steve

SPP-OTTAWA has informed me that this variety is now listed on Page 317 of the 2016 70th Edition Charlton. I am excited that my name appears as the finder of this variety and that my photos were used!

I have someone to thank and it is probably SPP.

                  Steve
