1968 S Bu Lincoln Cent I Have ???
Here is a couple pics of a 1968 S Bu Cent with Doubling, with the mint mark! When was the mint mark added to the machine Die and not hand punched die? and would this be called a RPM do to re-punching due to hand punched or just ( Mint Mark Doubling ) ??? Also the letters are in to the rim some look like Double Die not sure, How dose this happen where the letters are in to or close to the Rim is this offset or small planchet? THANKS FOR YOUR HELPTags: None

I can see the rest of the coin being MDD, YES But the Mint mark is PUNCHED by MAN'S hand a Die and a Hammer> NOT a Machine should be RPM until they added it to the master Die in 1990as you say. Man is not a Machine there for should not be called MMD if Mint Mark is Double Punched BY man.

Let's try this again. The mintmark is punched into the die face by hand. The coin is struck by the ENTIRE die, including the mintmark. Therefore, a jittery die can produce machine doubling of the mintmark, just as it can with any design element.
I can't explain this any more clearly. If you're still confused, I encourage you to read some more about the minting process.Mike Diamond. Error coin writer and researcher.

Here what you should be looking at, http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds not the mint-mark. I have about 100 of them. Back when I was doing my cancer treatment in 2002, my bank went to the back of the vault, and started giving me thing that been in there for over 20 yrs.Last edited by Stachowski; 03-22-2015, 08:37 AM.
