CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    2002-D Ohio Statehood Quarter Weird Finish

    Just going through some of my coins, and came across this one . It look like it has some kind of different finish, almost like a woody, matte, very colorful too. But I have no ideal what it is ..

    Might just be toned via environmental conditions. What does it weigh?

      5.6 weight on, its very well struck the spaces suit and bi-plane, have really nice details . Its looks like to me the planchet, had something done to it, very fine lines running northwest, to southeast, ( reverse ) lots of coloring all across both sides, reverse has more then the obverse for coloring, I would think, less open fields on the obverse, then reverse. I'll show it to you the next time we meet, thanks for stopping by Ken ..

        The fine lines are probably roller stains and are definitely related to the minting process. As far as the overall color goes, it's not a familiar form and may be due to later environmental exposure.

          Thanks for stopping by Mike. I've heard of coloring agents for cons, ( lol ) maybe thats whats going on with the coloring . I'll bring it to a show, I would like to know if someone tried something like that, this way if I'm at a coin show looking for raw coins, and something I like catches my eye with nice coloring, well you know that rest . Thanks again for stopping by ...
